DIY Natural Men’s Cologne

Depending on which type of cologne you are willing to use, here is an oil based version and a water based spray version. While the spray is more often used these days, the oil based one will have a longer lingering scent than the water based one!

OIL BASE INGREDIENTS

  • 2 Tbsp carrier oil (grape seed or almond oil)
  • essential oil blend (see below)
  • 1 oz. glass dropper bottle

WATER SPRAY BASE INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Tbsp. witch hazel
  • 1 tsp. aloe vera gel (optional)
  • essential oil blend x2 (see below)
  • 2 oz. spray bottle
  • water to fill

OIL DIRECTIONS

  1. Add essential oils to the bottle, follow with a carrier oil to fill. Cap and gently swish to combine.
  2. To use: dab a couple drops of cologne to your pressure points (i.e. nape of neck, wrists, behind the ears, etc.)

WATER SPRAY DIRECTIONS

  1. Combine ingredients in a 2 oz. spray bottle and add water to fill.
  2. Shake before use!

 Masculine essential oils to create your own blends

Essential oils may seem like they could be a girly type thing, but really they don't discriminate on sex. If blended right, you can find a scent for anyone, men included! Though I am giving you ten masculine blends below, to use in your men's cologne, you can create your own blends for yourself. While any essential oil can be blended into any cologne or perfume, these are some essential oils that tend to be favored more often by men:

Citrus – bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, lime, mandarin, petitgrain, tangerine

Herbaceous – basil, bay (laurel, West Indies), cajeput, carrot seed, clary sage, coriander, eucalyptus (globulus, lemon, smithii), lavender, lemongrass, oregano, palmarosa, peppermint, rosemary, sage, tea tree, thyme

Rich Base Notes – copaiba basalm, frankincense, myrrh, oakmoss, oakwood, patchouli, peru basalm, sandalwood, vanilla, vetiver

Spice – allspice, anise, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon leaf (use leaf instead of bark for all topical applications, cinnamon bark is too irritating to put on the skin), clove bud, ginger, nutmeg

Woods – cedarwood, cypress, fir needle, juniper berry, pine
